Nowadays, you would not expect a teenager to mention Big Pun, A Tribe Called Quest, and Big L as a few of his major hip-hop influences. This is a clear indication that Eli Flash is perhaps far more advanced than your typical teen. Balancing "boom bap" classic lyricism with "trap rap" contemporary catchy flows, Eli has tapped into an organic talent, creatively crafting his unique sound.
Brooklyn-made and Harlem-raised, Eli Flash's ear for hip-hop came from simply being a product of his environment. His writing skills were cultivated during his freshman year in high school. It was the lyricist's avid participation in a Hip-Hop Education class that exposed him to the origin and rugged roots of the culture. This same course sonically shaped Eli Flash, allowing him the opportunity to develop his stage presence while on the Hip-Hop Ed College Tour, where he performed at venues across NYC and upstate New York. The then 14-year-old even garnered a great deal of props after spitting a jaw dropping verse when he was featured on a special segment of Sway in the Morning back in December 2015. It turned out to be just the confidence boost he needed.A little over a year later, Eli Flash released his first mixtape, The Book of Eli, in February 2017 on his 16th birthday. The melodic maturity boasted on tracks like "Danny Phantom", and the new breakthrough 2018 single, “Know Better” remind us that this powerhouse phenom is definitely cut from a different cloth.
